Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah, Malaysia


This is Eagle Square, Dataran Lang is one of Langkawi’s best known manmade attractions, a large sculpture of an eagle poised to take flight. A sight that greets visitors to the island via ferry, the 12 metre-tall statue is one of the island’s most instantly recognizable monuments.



The Dayang Bunting Geoforest Park is mainly made of Permian marble overthrusted by the older Setul Formation limestone. There are a number of caves within the park. One of the most unique features of the park is the fresh water lake of Tasik Dayang Bunting.


Field of burnt rice located near Langkawi International Airport and the Atma Alam Batik Village, this was once the site of Kampung Raja, the ancient capital of Langkawi. Padang Matsirat or Field of Burnt Rice was also the village granary. Just when Langkawi fell into the hands of the Siamese in 1821, Datuk Karma Jaya ordered the burning of the granary to starve the enemy.
